A Visit to the ER

Mr. Joshua Hanshaw made his first official visit to the Manhattan, KS Emergency Room last night. Around 7:30 PM he came down with what we thought was a slight migraine. It progressively had gotten worse and eventually he was unable to relax and was in great amounts of pain. After a few phone calls to moms and prospective medical professionals (Tara), we decided to head to the ER. Of course, all he could say was...'I am sure it will go away,' and 'How much is this going to cost.' I finally told him just to relax and it would all be taken care of soon.

Once we were at the ER, we waited patiently in the waiting room (accompanied by the loud TV). The nurses took Josh back, hooked him up to an IV and gave him Benadril (to make him sleepy), a drug that started with a 'T' and two other drugs. He was feeling pretty good and in no time at all his pain had went away. AMAZING! It really is a miracle how they can make pain go away just like that! POOF! :)

An hour later we were being discharged! He was a little tired, but was doing SO much better. One of the first things he did when we got home was have a bowl of lactose free ice cream! MMmmm. I guess a little sugar never hurt anyone, especially when there was nothing in his tummy to start with! Shortly after that...he was snoring!

All is well! The nurse did give us some good tips regarding migraines though! She said, 'take the following when you get a migraine and lay in a dark, quiet room:
-800 mg of Motrin
-1000 mg of Tylenol
-1 Benadril
She said that it would keep us out of the ER! We are all for that!

The "T" word was Tagamet! I am so glad that you went to the ER and am well pleased by the advise they gave you! Inexpensive and effective! Love you both, Mom
